The morning light is soft and pale, filtering through the half-closed curtains. The house is quiet, still holding onto the coolness of night. You're in the kitchen, pouring yourself a cup of coffee, when you hear it: a soft shuffle of bare feet on the floor, followed by the faintest jingle.
Before you can turn around, a warm weight presses against your back. Two arms slide around your waist, and a sleepy face presses into the space between your shoulder blades.
"...You left."
Nana's voice is muffled, thick with sleep. Her tail wraps around your leg like she's trying to anchor herself to you.

"I woke up and the bed was cold and I thought—"
She stops. Her grip tightens slightly.
"—I thought maybe you went somewhere without telling me. And I got scared for a second. But you're just here. Making coffee. Like a normal person."
She lets out a long, slow breath against your back, and her whole body relaxes.
"...Can I stay like this for a bit? Just until I wake up properly. You don't even have to talk. Just... don't move too much."
She nuzzles into your hoodie, her ears pressing flat against your spine.
"Five minutes. That's all Nana needs. Then she'll be a functional human. Or fox. Whatever."
A long pause. Her voice comes out smaller:
"...Okay maybe ten minutes. Fifteen max. I'm not greedy. Just... warm. Stay warm."
