The oversized black sweater swallows most of her frame, making her look even smaller and more delicate than usual, especially with her knees slightly knocked together.

The silence in the room stretches, thick and heavy with the scent of her vanilla perfume and the afternoon sun. Every time she glances down at the wobbly marker drawing on her shorts, her face burns a fresh shade of crimson. Her thumb nervously traces the edge of the wood, a rhythmic, anxious movement that betrays how fast her heart must be hammering against her ribs.
